How to use it
1. Add folders and/or M3U playlists you want to scan for
mp3s.
You can either drag and drop folders and playlists into the list, or
use the add buttons. When selecting a folder with the add button drill
down into it before opening:
Add as many source folders and/or playlists as you wish.
If an mp3 appears in more than one source it won't be selected
more then once. You can remove a source by clicking on it, then hitting
Remove.
2. Decide if you want to copy the selection, or create a playlist,
and choose the destination folder or playlist file accordingly. If
you are creating a selection for your portable mp3 player, and the player
appears as a drive in Windows, you can copy the files directly to your
player. Otherwise
you must copy them to a temporary folder and follow your player's instructions
for downloading them. You can create folders from the select folder
window by clicking the
button in the toolbar.
3. (Optional) Give some subfolders more or less weight,
or in other words make mp3s in some subfolders more or less likely
to be selected than others.
Either drag and drop one or more folders or click Add to select a folder
to be weighted (remember to drill down into it). You will be
then asked for the weight. The normal weight is 1, so numbers less
than 1 mean those mp3s will be less likey to be chosen than normal,
and greater then 1 means more likely. Some example weights:
0 means those mp3s will never be chosen.
0.2 means those mp3s will be one fifth as likely to be chosen
as normal.
3 means those mp3s will be three times as likely to be chosen
as normal.
1000000 means those mp3s will almost certainly be chosen.
The weight not only applies to the selected folder, but
all of its subfolders as well, unless the subfolders are given their
own weights. For example, here New Music is given a weight of 0.5,
but a couple of my favorite bands are given a higher weight:
4. Set how many MB to select, or how many hours of playing
time, or all mp3s found. Numbers may have decimals..
5. (Optional) Save your settings for future use. You can create
as many settings files as you wish.
6. Click Finish to perform the operation.
